Volunteer of the Year — Chattanooga Chapter

Christopher Brown

Christopher Brown

The AGA Chattanooga Chapter would like to nominate Christopher P. Brown (Chris) as volunteer of the year. Chris has led the chapter this past year as the president of the chapter. He has had the difficult responsibility of continuing chapter traditions during a tumultuous year dealing with COVID-19 restrictions. Chris has been instrumental in transiting the chapter to having virtual membership meetings via Zoom. Chris has been able to continue to offer the CPE program that the chapter has come to expect even during a year of all virtual meetings.

Since Chris began on the board with the chapter in June 2018, he has contributed a wealth of knowledge and a willingness to help in any way possible. Over the years, he has developed a keen ability to be able to promote the chapter through social media. Chris has helped tremendously to increase chapter awareness through numerous social media platforms and with consistent social media posts.

Chris not only serves AGA at the local level but also holds committees at the National level. Chris was on the Leadership Development Committee and the National Awards Committee this past year through AGA National. Through these committees, Chris had the opportunity to speak to students at Appalachian State University and was a panelist at the National Leadership Training Young Professional session.

In addition to Chris’ involvement with the local AGA and National level AGA, Chris also has numerous other community activities he is involved with. He is a board member for OnPoint Direction for Life, a local youth development organization that partners with schools and communities to cultivate strengths in youth and guide them on their path to thrive, and is also president of his high school alumni association. Chris has also volunteered at other local organizations such as the Chattanooga Department of Youth and Family Development and GoFest Chattanooga, an annual celebration that is part of an initiative to help make Chattanooga more accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability.
