Dr. Patricia Manning
Dr. Patricia Manning is the 2020-2021 President of the Tallahassee Chapter and recently retired from an extensive career in higher education and government accounting. Affectionately known as “Pat” by colleagues, friends, and family alike, Dr. Manning has thrown herself completely into developing the Tallahassee Chapter from the very beginning. Dr. Manning has been a member of this chapter since it was chartered and had a role as one of the founding members who helped create the charter and the chapter. She continues in her commitment to the success of the chapter by initiating and responding to over 650 Tallahassee Chapter emails during the 2020-2021 year to members and the public, setting up and executing each of the monthly training platforms and webinars, setting up and maintaining Zooms, designing and distributing announcements via email and approving those created by other CEC members, successfully negotiating GTE conference contracts, and distributing CPE certificates to attendees for each of the monthly trainings. She contacts the CEC members to ask them to do individual tasks for the Chapter that will help the Chapter win, grow, and exceed goals and expectations. The pandemic has definitely not made this an easy year, but Pat was instrumental in maintaining the level of excellence the Tallahassee Chapter members have come to expect; for instance, she helped secure sought-after speakers to attract a virtual audience for the monthly midday trainings and the annual Government Training Event (GTE).
Throughout 2020- 2021, Dr. Manning was fierce and focused ensuring community service was a priority for the Tallahassee Chapter amongst other chapter endeavors. She accomplished coordinating resources for the COVID first responders with meal gift cards that support the responders and local restaurants. Pat kept the National President 2021 focus of the Power of Seven constantly before the Chapter and contributed to the success of the chapter recruiting 7 new AGA members, sponsoring 7 students to attend AGA Events, and donating time and money to 7 non-profits which she managed to orchestrate donations to 8 community service organization this year. Leading the CEC and the Tallahassee Chapter by example, Pat posted the great work of the Tallahassee Chapter members on social media showcasing the chapter’s many community involvement efforts.
In this year alone, Pat’s leadership contributed to adding over 30 new members taking us over the goal of having at least 300 members. Pat will continue to help the Chapter attract new members, retain current members, and recruit additional student members. Even prior to Pat’s presidency, she was a vigorous volunteer and was inspirational by helping our community, collecting supplies for the homeless with hotel shampoos and soaps, food drives, aluminum top drive for the Ronald McDonald House and a host of other community outreach programs. Her care shows in her actions, and she seeks to pay it forward. She is strong in her faith and is driven to take a part in showing the love and giving time in doing His work thru her professional connections. Before closing out another successful year, in April 2021, Dr. Manning represented the Tallahassee Chapter on the National AGA Accountability Talks podcast sharing strategies used to maintain and reach platinum status each chapter year. We are blessed to have her lead the Tallahassee Chapter as she embodies the definition of Volunteer of the Year.
