I am thrilled to nominate Tim Baker for the prestigious Volunteer of the Year award in recognition of his outstanding efforts in revitalizing the Lincoln Nebraska Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Chapter. His exceptional dedication and leadership has been instrumental in rejuvenating the chapter, particularly in the aftermath of the challenging COVID-19 pandemic.
During the pandemic, many organizations faced unprecedented obstacles, and the Lincoln Nebraska AGA Chapter was no exception. The chapter's activities were severely impacted, as in-person meetings and events came to a halt due to safety concerns. However, Tim seized this opportunity to rally the members and steer the chapter towards a remarkable revival.
Tim spearheaded reengaging the chapter members, which included webinars, lunch hour speaking sessions, and a day long PDT on relevant and timely topics in government accounting. These initiatives not only offered valuable professional development opportunities for members but also facilitated networking and knowledge-sharing among accounting professionals in the region.
