Salim personifies dedication and support for AGA, often laboring tirelessly behind the scenes to uphold its core values with honor and integrity. In the 2023-2024 program year, Salim assumed leadership of the DC Chapter’s Diversity Inclusion Equity and Accessibility (DIEA) Committee, setting an excellent precedent in its inaugural year. Going beyond personal recognition, Salim ensured the committee's enduring success by crafting an ambitious timeline and calendar, fostering a culture of limitless achievement. Additionally, he recruited additional members to the DIEA committee throughout the year and identified a capable successor as DIEA Director, ensuring a seamless transition of leadership. Salim’s unwavering commitment to AGA was demonstrated by his pledge to continue involvement with the committee to ensure its sustained prosperity, while also offering support to the incoming President as a senior advisor and continuing to also serve AGA at the national level.

Salim’s leadership with AGA is exemplary, transcending mere participation in executive roles. His steadfast commitment to AGA’s mission sets him apart from those who merely occupy positions of prominence without making substantive contributions. With over 25 years of unwavering support, Salim has consistently upheld AGA principles with honor and integrity, serving in both supportive and leadership capacities at the chapter and national levels since 2013. 

Salim Mawani stands as a distinguished leader and seasoned senior executive, leaving an indelible mark on the realm of government financial management. His exceptional service has not only left a lasting impression on the AGA DC Chapter but has also elevated AGA’s reputation and standing. Salim’s dedication to the principles upheld by the AGA DC Chapter embodies its ethos, and his achievements in the government sector warrant the recognition bestowed by the AGA DC Chapter’s James W. Saylor Award.
