Candidate Assessment Tool for Grants Management Professionals
Grants management professionals must possess a broad cross-section of competencies: knowledge of federal circulars; allowable and unallowable costs; cost allocation strategies; negotiation skills to establish quality budgets and sub-award agreements; the full range of administrative and reporting requirements; elements of the closeout process; audit requirements; and audit resolution techniques. This assessment is designed to serve two distinct groups: 1) hiring managers and 2) professionals and job applicants who want to assess their own knowledge and skills across a large array of grants management competencies.
It should take approximately 30 minutes for grants professionals and job applicants to complete the assessment.
This assessment is intended for use by all sectors of the grants management field, including all levels of government, private and non-profit organizations, universities and foundations.
Those Taking the Assessment:
If you are a grants professional, you can independently complete the standard assessment to determine your grants management competencies, across pre-award, post-award and close-out activities that have been validated and benchmarked by the National Grants Management Association. Or, if you are prospective applicant and are taking this assessment by invitation, you can complete an assessment to determine your grants management competencies for the specific position you are applying for.
